Majestim represents the deeper and more melodic side of Estonian DnB. His tracks have been published by record labels such as Liquid Tones, Insight Music, Rustout Records and others since 2016. Majestim is also one of the hosts of the R2 broadcast 'Tjuun In' and a resident DJ of the party series with the same name.

How did you get into drum'n'bass?
I found drum'n'bass through different YouTube channels, but my love for DnB began with Netsky’s track 'Secret Agent'.
What year did you start producing music?
If I’m not mistaken I first opened up FL Studio in 2012. I started with electro house and melodic dubstep.
Your first drum'n'bass release:
I had tried making DnB before and written tracks which were unreleased, but my first released track was 'Interstellar' and was published by Liquid Tones in 2016.

How do you describe your music?
My music is quite varied, moving through different moods and styles, but mainly I produce liquid drum'n'bass. My music can be melancholic and deep, bright and joyful , aggressive and eclectic and something in between. It is rather important for me to write the piano rolls and most of the melodies myself, for me to have a greater emotional connection with the tracks, but at the same time to create the vibe sampling is really important as well.
What or who inspires you to create music?
I am inspired by other artists, people, places, nature, nature and what is going on inside me. I just recently realized that I also write music to comfort myself.
Which do you think you are more, a DJ or a producer?
I would rather consider myself a producer, I really enjoy creating music, but it is hard to beat the energy which can be created between a DJ and an audience.
What would you do differently as an aspiring young producer? Advice for newcomers:
I try not to think about what could have been done better but to concentrate on what I can do better right now. But if I had to choose a thing I would have focused on sound design, because of which I have developed most. I would advise for newbies to make music first and foremost for themselves, to enjoy the study and creative processes the most. I would advise listening to other genres, not to get stuck in the most common rhythm patterns of DnB.
Who would you like to collaborate with and / or play b2b in the future?
Neid on palju nii Eestis kui ka mujal. Vokalistidest tooks välja Charli Brix, Ruth Royalli ja DRS-i. Produtsentidest näiteks Pola & Bryson, Alix Perez ja LSB. Väljaspool trummi ja bassi tahaksin koostööd teha Bonobo ja Olafur Arnaldsiga.
What should a promoter consider when inviting you to play?
Otseselt millegagi, sest mu mussikollektsioonist leiab igat sorti trummi ja bassi ja ma usun, et suudan erineva publikuga päris hästi kohaneda.

Vesi, Red Bull, vähemalt 2 CDJ-d ja mixer
The best / most memorable parties you've played at:
EST: Hospitality 2019 b2b MHKL-ga oli emotsiooni poolest next level, sest nii suures saalis ma ilmselt mänginud polnudki ning Hospital Recordsi legendaarse suure H-tähe ees mängimine oli üks minu unistustest. Üks põnevamaid ja teistsugusemaid oli neurofunk`i set, mille tegin Halloweeni festivalil Vilniuses. Väga meeldejääv oli ka 2020. aasta Tjuun In Botikus. Tegelikult on kõik peod omanäolised ja toredad.
The weirdest song request you've been asked during a DJ set:
Üks tütarlaps palus keset korralikku bänger setti Shakirat. Kahjuks mul pulgal Shakirat ei olnud, muidu oleksin seda kindlasti mänginud.
Interesting fan experience:
Ükskord Tjuun Inil kuulsin ühest tüdrukute pundist möödudes: „Kle see on ju see Majestim“, aga muidu midagi väga meeldejäävat pole ette tulnud, pole kuigi kuulus ka, aga vahel ikka tullakse tere ütlema ja muusikat komplimenteerima.
Other interests (hobbies):
Peale produtseerimise võtab hetkel kõige suurema osa ajast BFMi filmikunsti eriala, kus ma õpin helirežissööriks. Seetõttu üritan ka võimalikult palju filme vaadata. Lisaks sellele teen regulaarselt trenni, õpin omal käel klaverit ning veedan aega sõprade ja perega.
Do you prefer to make plans or to be spontaneous?
Teatud asjade puhul olen pidanud õppima planeerima, aga pigem on spontaansus minu pärusmaa.
